CITYTECH Blogroll:
Keynote's Web Privacy Tracking
Friday, February 24, 2012
Web privacy for users is becoming more of a priority for organizations. A detailed privacy policy instills trust with users. Users should be aware of how you intend to use the information gathered, whether it will be shared and how it will be stored. For organizations, a strong privacy policy is not always sufficient. Cookies from external sources are constantly being placed on your site. It is important to actively monitor and be aware of cookies placed on your site.
Keynote has developed and will soon release Web Privacy Tracking (WPT). Currently in beta, WPT aims to assist companies to stay within compliance of their privacy policy. WPT provides third party security monitoring of your site. The service includes a privacy dashboard that will provide real time data regarding third party ad networks who are tracking and gathering information about your users. It will specifically list which policy they violated. The new service will also allow companies to see how the violators got onto the site, their referrers, how often and where they appear. Based on your settings any third party who violates your privacy policy will be flagged on the dashboard. The collection of this data is of interest to your users, websites, advertisers and government regulators.
Through its strategic partnership with Keynote, CITYTECH has been able to implement the beta version of WPT and is excited for the release. Keynote's services including WPT are part of the CITYTECH Managed Services Platform and also offered to CITYTECH clients.
